John Howard Society thanks supporters

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

The John Howard Society of Nunavut would like to thank the community for the support you have shown in our first year. It has been tremendous. The soup kitchen has and continues to serve apporiximately 1,650 plates per month, feeding children nutritious breakfast and lunch, and supper to adults on a daily basis to people who are homeless, mentally handicapped, released inmates, displaced, unemployed or otherwise disadvantaged.

Contributions and donations have been received constantly by way of food, money and used clothing for the thrift shop.

We would like to thank: Brighter Futures; Northmart; Baffin Canners; Arctic Ventures; the Legion; Parnaivik Coffee Shop; Coca Cola; The Snack; the Iqaluit Elders’ Facility; Ms. Pauline Paton; the Anglican Church; the Grind and Brew; Uqsuq Corporation; Municipality of Iqaluit; Qikiqtaaluk Corporation; Government of Nunavut.

We are also pleased to announced that the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency has recognized the society with charitable status.

We thank the volunteers who work hard and tirelessly. Your support is greatly appreciated and we hope that you will be as kind this New Year.
