Holiday celebrations in July will affect municipal services in Iqaluit, including trash collection and water delivery.
Municipal offices will be closed on Friday, which is Canada Day, as well as on July 11, the Monday following Nunavut Day, according to a news release from the City of Iqaluit.
This week, residential garbage normally collected on Fridays will instead be picked up on Thursday. There will be no pick-up service on Friday.
Also Friday, there will be no water and sewer truck services. That service will start again Saturday at 6 a.m. and run until work is finished.
Following Nunavut Day, there will be no water or sewer truck service on July 11, but service will resume July 12 at 6 a.m.
There will also be no residential garbage collection on July 11, but service resumes on July 12 until work is complete, including stops that would normally be made on the Monday.
The release noted residents requesting water delivery can phone the city’s dispatch service at 867-979-5650 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. There’s a service charge of $350 for emergency delivery, and $500 for emergency commercial delivery.
For more information, phone the municipal public works department at 867-979-5630.
