Kimmirut has its first confirmed case of COVID-19 since Jan. 26, as Nunavut’s tally of active cases has climbed by 57 since Tuesday.

Nunavut Premier P.J. Akeeagok shared the numbers on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

The territory has 432 active cases of COVID-19, with Iqaluit having the highest number at 121 cases, followed by Rankin Inlet with 41 and Kugaaruk with 39.

On Tuesday, the territory’s total hospitalizations due to this wave of the COVID-19 pandemic rose from 23 to 27, though little information has been shared on the specifics of each hospitalized case, including how many discharges there have been.

The territory’s COVID-19 press conference, usually held on Tuesdays, was cancelled this week due to water maintenance in Iqaluit.
