Kudos for Kugluktuk’s departing principal

Kugluktuk’s outgoing high school principal, Haydn George (left front), receives a standing ovation on Wednesday, June 5, from about 200 people gathered in the school gym as he accepts an award from the hamlet for his efforts as principal over the past three years. Many in the western Nunavut community of about 1,500 lodged formal complaints and put their names to a petition after the local district education authority did not renew George’s contract to continue leading the school.
