Kugaaruk case is murder

RCMP are now treating the death of a five-year-old Kugaaruk girl two weeks ago as a homicide.

The girl was found in a shed after she was reported missing on Friday, March 10.

Four police officers from the RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Unit in Iqaluit remain in Kugaaruk, where they continue to investigate. A suspect has not been identified.

RCMP spokesman Cpl. Randy Slawson, was unable to offer any more details, as of Nunatsiaq News press time.
