Iqaluit’s dark night sky will be brightly lit Thursday when the annual Christmas Lights Across Canada ceremony is held outside the Nunavut legislative assembly building.
The event, set for 5:15 p.m. in the parking lot, includes “an evening of lights and surprises for kids,” according to a release issued Monday by the legislative assembly.
The Christmas Lights Across Canada program was introduced in 1985 highlighting sites around Ottawa that were brightly lit for Christmas, according to the federal government website Canada.ca,
“Across Canada, monuments and sites are also highlighted in provincial and territorial capitals. All Canadians can then enjoy the winter lights and celebrate this festive time,” the website says, adding that the name of the federal government’s event has since been changed to Winter Lights Across Canada.
Who’s paying the power bill 😂 🤣
SANTA !!!!!
The colonizers
Tax payers.🤪
😭 😭 🤣
I’m glad the Legislative Assembly will be well lit.
.
That should make it easy for the MLAs to find it.
.
Maybe they will go inside and get to work, developing and passing the legislation Nunavut actually needs.
.
I’m referring to legislation with well thought-out implementation plans that will actually be implemented, rather than the aspirational stuff we’ve been getting from them since Nunavut was created.
.
In the spirit of the season, and all.
During the darkest, coldest, and highest power-usage period of the year we overload the system further with the lights at the legislature.
THAT is the definition of: ignorance, hypocrisy, wastage, and destructiveness … and a surefire path to another series of brownouts, blackouts and frozen water lines. But hey, at least it’ll create an excuse for another state-of-emergency so the local and federal powers-that-be can assure us how well we are being protected and maintained by the nannies.
JFC, it’s a few holiday lights, not an industrial laundry…
Who are we to enjoy a little holiday cheer while “s” spends Christmas Day warming up their can of gravy over the qulliq to spread on their turkey roll while burning driftwood for heat in their completely off the grid sustainable home?
Found him….. here’s Scrooge!!
Once you realize S’s schtick is the wannabe the clever NN edgelord, you can maybe just giggle at the ridiculousness of most of their comments (some are funny, but usually by unintentional irony).
Christmas is cancelled everyone, S thinks it’s going to overload the grid and plunge us into a post apocalyptic state .Must be a lot of fun at parties 🤣
Omg can’t wait to see the same lights as last year and the year before and the year before and the year before…
Iykyk
It’s for the kids 😊
Don’t be a Scrooge, put your money where your keyboard is, donate new decorations
