Makivik fills board positions

Elections were held in Nunavik on Feb. 28 to fill open positions on Makivik’s board of directors. David Angutinguak won with 17 votes in Aupaluk, which has 66 eligible voters. In Chisasibi, with 45 eligible voters, Billy Weetaltuk won with 29 votes. In Inukjuak, with 685 eligible voters, winner Pauloosie Q. Weetaluktuk received 111 votes. In Quaqtaq, with 128 eligible voters, Li ie Kullula won with 39 votes. In Salluit, with 551 eligible voters, Adamie S. Keatainak won with 93 votes.

The newly elected members will begin their term following Makivik’s annual general meeting in Kuujjuaraapik from April 3-6. The meeting will be also capped off by the election of two Makivik executive members.
