A 20-year-old man faces several charges in connection with a robbery at a Cambridge Bay arcade and convenience store last weekend.
RCMP received a report at 9:12 p.m. on Saturday that a robbery had occurred at the Game Hall, said a news release from the police. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived.
One person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the community health centre, the release said.
Witnesses identified the suspect, who was later arrested and charged with robbery, two counts of assault with a weapon, breach of probation and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The suspect appeared virtually in court for a bail hearing on Monday. He was released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 1 in Cambridge Bay.
Why isn’t this guy in jail? You pull an armed robbery and then you get to walk around the community and brag about it. I wonder, if they took away his knife or would that be an infringement of his rights.
I think the rights of the community, not having to worry about a nut job showing up at your door, out weights his rights.
What is happening to this community? It used to be a GOOD town, now all hell has broken loose in this town. Sounds like a goth band, death, drugs, fires, beatings, what next? It’s more like Garbage Bay than Cambridge Bay!
No worries if there a healing program to take trouble makers out on the land. If its like Nunavik theres lots of programs funding and equipment to take these out in the kand , but nothing for those lost in rhe cracks, but not in any kind of crime. Got to be a crime majer or make trouble otherwise no program or funding for you. And yoy can watch them going out and before long bsck to making trouble.
