Police have charged a 44-year-old man with first-degree murder in Resolute Bay following an arrest last Friday, but have not identified the person he is accused of killing.

The RCMP were called to a home on the afternoon of Nov. 22 to check on someone’s well-being, according to a police news release issued Monday afternoon.

On arrival, officers found the body of a dead female. The news release did not name her or provide her age.

Babah Kalluk, who was also at the home, was arrested and charged with murder. He was flown to Iqaluit and remanded into custody.

His next court date is set for Jan. 7, 2025.

Citing an unspecified publication ban, the RCMP said they would not provide further information, the news release said.
