The Nunavut RCMP say they’re treating the death of an Iqaluit man this morning as a homicide.
The police say they attended to a man in distress at 2:30 a.m. on Friday, May 15, in the 4100 block, behind Dead Dog Lake.
The man was taken to the Qikiqtani General Hospital where he died.
In a news release sent out at midday on Friday, May 15, the RCMP say “the circumstances surrounding the death appear to be suspicious” and the death is being investigated as a homicide.
A section of Imiqtarviminiq Road is blocked off as the RCMP’s major crimes unit and forensic identification unit investigate the area.
The RCMP are asking anyone with information, or who may have witnessed anything, to come forward either to the RCMP at 867-979-1111 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
