Reports that a male was ramming his all-terrain vehicle into a house in Pond Inlet on Wednesday led to RCMP charging a man with numerous offences including choking and forcible confinement.
At approximately 12:40 p.m., officers responded and were notified that a male had assaulted a female, possibly with a firearm, RCMP said in a news release Friday.
Schools and local offices were put in lockdown as a safety measure. A suspect was arrested, the release said, but no firearm was located. The community lockdown was lifted soon after.
A 47-year-old man is charged with assault by choking, forcible confinement, assault, two counts of uttering death threats, threatening to damage property, and mischief.
The man was held in custody and was scheduled for a bail hearing Friday in Pond Inlet.
