A 42-year-old man reported missing in Arviat on Sunday was found dead on Tuesday, RCMP said in a news release issued late Tuesday afternoon.

Alexander William Broughton was last seen at 115-3rd Ave. in Arviat just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday, the RCMP said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

Police do not suspect criminality, and the investigation has been turned over to the Nunavut Coroner’s Office, the police release said.

Arviat RCMP thanked volunteers in the local ground search and rescue as well as Arviat residents for their help.

The release conveyed officers’ condolences to Broughton’s family and friends.

    Where was he found?
How do they think he died?

What if that was your brother, dad, uncle, friend, cousin? Would you want to read about the circumstances of his death online or newspaper? Or would you want to hear about it from the proper authorities? They may be legitimate questions, the family deserves to hear from the authorities instead of Nunatsiaq News

A smart person would read the article and note that this has been handed to the Coroner’s office for further investigation… meaning… cause of death still unknown.
My prayers are with his family, friends and the volunteers who spent hours searching for him.
