Murdochs honored at FCNQ gathering
In recognition of their “exceptional contribution” to the cooperative movement in Nunavik, Peter and Lucille Murdoch are to receive the 2003 “Ordre du mérite coopératif québécois” from the Quebec’s cooperative council, le Conseil de la coopération du Québec, tonight.
The Murdochs have been associated with the development of the cooperative movement in northern Quebec since 1966. Murdoch was the general manager of the Fédération des coopératifves du Nouveau-Québec for 30 years, until his retirement in 1997.
The awards ceremony at the FCNQ’s offices in Baie d’Urfé falls on the final day of the FCNQ’s board meeting, with more than 180 people, including FNCQ staff, executive, board members and guests from Nunavik and Montreal expected to be in attendance.
