Music society wants volunteers

IQALUIT — The Iqaluit Music Society is looking for performers of all ages and skills to get involved in their Inuktitut and English production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

The society is inviting Iqaluit residents to attend an orientation session Feb. 7 at Inuksuk High School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Participants will be introduced to the music and story of the musical, and can sign up for parts or volunteer jobs that interest them. Acting and singing sessions will follow in the remainder of the week.

“We have a really great show this year. People are going to have a ball,” said Lorraine Thomas, the music society’s secretary.

She said the production will need lots of volunteers and so anyone who wants to be involved will able to participate.

Pierre Brault, who directed the music society’s production of Godspell last year will be returning to direct Joseph this year.

People who want to sign up in advance can e-mail Thomas at lorraine@nunanet.com or can call her at 979-6452 in the evening.
