Nunavut public health officials have extended a warning of possible exposure to COVID-19 at the Yellowknife airport and Fort Good Hope to include Aug. 18.

The original exposure warning, issued on Tuesday, included those who passed through the airport or travelled to Fort Good Hope between Aug. 5 to 17.

It also specified people who attended a hand games tournament in Fort Good Hope between Aug. 5 and 9, or attended the Arctic Indigenous Wellness Foundation between Aug. 10 and 13 may have been exposed.

Vaccinated Nunavummiut affected by the exposure notice can still travel home, but must self-monitor for symptoms for two weeks.

Unvaccinated Nunavummiut over the age of 12  years need to isolate in a GN hub outside of the territory for two weeks, states the advisory.

The travel bubble between Nunavut and the Northwest Territories was suspended on Tuesday following the exposure notice and an uptick in cases in the bordering territory.

On Thursday there were 128 active cases of COVID-19 in the Northwest Territories and no active cases in Nunavut.

All these people, majority of them testing positive for Covid are unvaccinated, these people afraid of the vaccine are fuelling the pandemic, keeping the pandemic going.
If you are able to get vaccinated but choose not to get it, you should also choose not to go to the hospital and take up badly needed space! You are taking away badly needed space for people that do need to be in hospital fighting cancer or require surgeries.
Think about others and not just yourself.

I would like to see private covid clinics pop-up to treat those who get covid but have not been vaccinated, and just like in the US, they would be on the hook for footing the bill.

Our hospitals and health centre’s are small and capacities are limited. Those who are unvaccinated and get sick from covid should not be admitted into our hospitals.

Also shame on the GNWT for allowing the close-contact hand games to happen, with no proof of vaccine requirements.
