Nancy supports Stéphane Dion
Nunavut’s Liberal MP, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, announced this past Friday that she’ll support Stéphane Dion, the former Liberal environment minister, for the leadership of her party.
“I was impressed with his ability to grasp the unique challenges of the North and to connect with the people,” Karetak-Lindell said last week.
Liberal party delegates will choose their next leader at a convention to held Nov. 28 to Dec. 2 at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal.
Michael Ignatieff, a highly respected writer, broadcaster and academic, is believed to be the first-ballot front-runner. But Dion and former Ontario premier Bob Rae are now running close behind Ignatieff and could over-take him in second and subsequent ballots.
Convention delegates will likely begin voting Dec. 1.
