NCC charged
IQALUIT — Nunavut Construction Corporation, a large Inuit-owned firm, will be in court next month on charges of violating safety regulations.
The charge stems from an incident on a construction site in Iqaluit on Nov. 8, 2000.
NCC is accused of violating the Safety Act by failing to ensure one of its employees was wearing protective head-gear while he was working.
The firm is also charged with failing to follow directions of a safety officer, who visited the site and informed the company its employees should wear protective gear.
NCC has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The construction company is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 21.
