New chief medical officer
Dr. Isaac Sobol is in Iqaluit as the newly appointed chief medical officer.
Sobol arrived on Oct. 13 for his first two weeks in Nunavut. He will spend half his time in the North for six months before joining the Department of Health and Social Services on a part-time basis. Nunavut has not had a full-time chief medical officer for about a year.
Sobol will be Nunavut’s first chief medical officer to have the benefit of an assistant. Dr. Geraldine Osborne, a former chief medical officer here, will return to Iqaluit to become assistant chief medical officer.
