New passport office opens in Iqaluit
You don’t have to make a special stop-over in the South or wrestle with complicated forms before travelling, because the HRD centre in Iqaluit, Nunavut, is now a receiving agent for Passport Canada.
The Iqaluit office is located at Iqaluit House, Suite 300, and is open Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m..
HRD employees will review your passport application to make sure it’s accurate and complete. Applications will then be forwarded to Passport Canada. If everything does smoothly, the passport should arrive within 20 working days, not including mailing time.
“The extension of the passport receiving agent service to this community is a concrete example of federal partners joining their efforts to improve service to Canadian citizens,” said Belinda Stronach, the minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, in a news release about the new service.
