Answers
- A — A polynya never freezes due to the water current below. It can pose a risk to travellers unfamiliar with the area.
- C — Pope John Paul II visited Canada three times, first in 1984, again in 1987 when he dropped into Fort Simpson, N.W.T. and a third time in 2002.
- B — On average, 96 calls come in each day from people asking the RCMP to respond to some sort of incident. Over a year, that works out to a total of about 35,000 calls, or nearly one call for each of the approximately 40,000 people who live in the territory.
- B — With approximately 140 residents, Grise Fiord is the smallest community in Nunavut.
- B — The problem is in the water, as in efforts to thaw out a frozen water pipe have been unsuccessful. Meanwhile, some water trucks in need of repair are waiting on parts to be delivered. So a boil water advisory put in place March 20 remains in effect.
