IQALUIT — Police in Rankin Inlet say they made a sizable drug bust when they seized five-and-a-half pounds of marijuana at the hamlet’s airport last weekend.

Sgt. Mark Henniker of the Rankin Inlet RCMP said he believes the pot was flown into the hamlet, and that the bust was the result of a fairly lengthy investigation.

Charles Morin, 59, a longtime Rankin Inlet resident was charge with possession for the purposes of trafficking. He appeared before a justice of the peace and was released on an undertaking. He is scheduled to make an appearance in Territorial Court Sept. 15
