‘North of North’ brings Ice Cove back to screens across Canada

North of North fans will get another trip to Ice Cove on Tuesday, as CBC will air the first two episodes of the award-winning comedy’s second season.

The show follows young mother Siaja as she tries to start over after leaving her husband in a very public fashion.

The series was created by Iqaluit-based filmmakers Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril of Red Marrow Media.

It is co-produced by CBC and Netflix, in association with APTN.

The first episode of the new season, “I Wanna Mask Dance With Somebody,” sees Siaja trying to “break out of a rut,” while a mask dance intended to boost tourism spirals out of control, says a synopsis from CBC.

The second episode, “Ice, Ice, Baby,” follows Siaja and her estranged father Alistair as they work together to resolve a water crisis in Ice Cove.

The show’s first season debuted in 2025 and became CBC Gem’s most-watched new original series before reaching Netflix’s global top 10 for English-language television.

It was also a major winner at this year’s Canadian Screen Awards, taking home nine awards, including best comedy series and best lead performer in a comedy for Anna Lambe, who plays Siaja.

The eight-episode second season also stars Maika Harper, Braeden Clarke, Jay Ryan, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Zorga Qaunaq, Bailey Poching, Nutaaq Doreen Simmonds and Keira Cooper.

Season two airs at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday across Canada. Netflix has not announced when the new season will be released globally.
