‘North of North’ returns to CBC Sept. 8
Award-winning series to première 2nd season on CBC Gem and CBC TV

CBC is bringing its award-winning Inuit comedy back to screens in the first week of September.
The public broadcaster announced its fall lineup Wednesday, including the news North of North will return for its second season Sept. 8, with two back-to-back episodes beginning at 9 p.m. ET, following the premiere of the fifth and final season of Son of a Critch, a comedy series based in St. John’s, N.L.
Created by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, North of North is set in Nunavut and stars Anna Lambe as Siaja, a young Inuk mother rebuilding her life in the fictional Arctic community of Ice Cove after the public collapse of her marriage.
The comedy was renewed last April for a second season, which will consist of eight half-hour episodes. It is co-produced by CBC and Netflix, in association with APTN.
Netflix has not announced when the new season will be released globally.
The show’s first season debuted in 2025 as CBC Gem’s most-watched new original series and later cracked Netflix’s global top 10 English-language television rankings.
It also emerged as one of this year’s biggest winners at the Canadian Screen Awards, taking home nine awards, including best comedy series and best lead performer in a comedy.
Production on the second season began earlier this year in Iqaluit and Apex.
