NTI names new head of NSDC

Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. has named the new head of the Nunavut Social Development Council.

Jacqueline Simms of Iqaluit will take on the new role of director of social and cultural development.

Simms previously worked with the department of Indian and Northern Affairs in Iqaluit. She began her new job this week.

NTI disbanded NSDC in early March, and reconstructed it as a department of NTI. It also dismissed all NSDC board members. NTI’s board now also serves as the board of NSDC.

The first meeting of the NSDC board met last week during an NTI board meeting in Resolute Bay.
