Nuke storage site for northern Russia


A storage site for spent reactor compartments from nuclear submarines is planned for Sayda-guba, a village on the Barents Sea coast in the Murmansk region.

The facility will be the first of its kind in Russia and will be able to store 120 reactor compartments. Construction is to take six years and is not scheduled to begin until the spring of 2004.
