Another case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the community of Puvirnituq on April 15.

There have been 12 cases diagnosed across Nunavik, 11 of them in Puvirnituq, the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services stated.

The latest case is linked to all of the others in Puvirnituq, the health board said, and the patient was already in isolation at home where they will recover.

Following the announcement of the 11th confirmed case in the region, the health board said on April 13 that any person exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 who has been in close contact with a person with the disease would be considered a confirmed case without testing.

This latest case, though, was confirmed through testing.

And testing of symptomatic people who do not have a link to confirmed cases will continue.

Of the 12 cases in Nunavik, one has since recovered and 11 remain active, the board said.

The health board also reminded people to stay home as much as possible and not visit with friends or family.

Everyone is advised to frequently wash their hands for 20 seconds and maintain a minimum distance of two metres from other people.

What is the source of the first case in Puvirnituq? Was it international travel? What groups are being impacted?
