Nunavik health board elects new executive committee
Louisa Grey of Aupaluk will now chair Nunavik’s health, social services body

The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services has a new executive committee, elected at its board meeting on Dec. 6.
The board’s representative from Aupaluk, Louisa Grey, is the board’s new chairperson, while Kuujjuaq representative Shirley White-Dupuis will serve as vice president.
Its two new executive board members are Sheila Ningiuruvik (Quaqtaq) and Syra Qinuajuak (Akulivik), while the board’s executive director, Minnie Grey, continues to serve as secretary to the health board.
The board’s remaining members are:
- Cora Fleming (Kuujjuaraapik)
- Alice Tooktoo (Umiujaq)
- Ali Nalukturuk (Inukjuak)
- Lucy Aupalu (Puvirnituq)
- Peter Iyaituk (Ivujivik)
- Ida Saviadjuk (Salluit)
- Christina Kiatainak (Kangiqsujuaq)
- Lucy Tukkiapik-Carrier (Kangirsuk)
- Tommy Annanack (Tasiujaq)
- Kitty Annanack (Kangiqsualujjuaq)
- Bill Cain (Kativik Regional Government representative)
Representatives are appointed by their Northern Village council every three years.
The executive directors of Nunavik’s two hospitals, Larry Watt with the Ungava Tulattavik Health Centre and Murray McDonald of Inuulitsivik Health Centre, each sit on the NRBHSS board of directors also.
