Quebec provincial police say there was no criminal element to a fire that killed a Nunavik man last weekend.
Kativik Regional Police Force officers and firefighters in Inukjuak received a call on Saturday, June 6, just before 2 a.m., to respond to a house fire.
After the fire was put out, first responders found an unconscious man in the home.
The 40-year-old was taken to the local health centre where he was declared dead, the KRPF said in a news release on June 8.
The investigation was transferred to the Sûreté du Québec, which is typically called in to investigate major crimes in Nunavik. An SQ spokesperson said June 11 that the fire was deemed accidental.
Deepest condolences to immediate families.
For those who requests to find out the cause, please give it a time, it’s in investigator’s hands at this typical time.
Prayers are best not pinpointing anyone.
God Bless the community of Inukjuak at this difficult times,
In Jesus name, ?? Amen
It is sad abuse of alcohol has taken more lives than the virus in Nunavut and Nunavik , the last three months
Very sad
Covid-19, you are so good to us. Hey, why inukjuaq has so many alcohol and drug issues? Someone said back in the comments: more alcohol death than covid will either do to us. Truth is truth, but who sees it?
