Nunavut APTN host and musician honoured with youth award

Iqaluit musician and TV host Rita Claire Mike-Murphy is the recipient of the Youth Media Alliance’s Emerging Talent Award for 2019. The organization advocates for positive and educational screen-based media for Canadian youth. Mike-Murphy, originally from Pangnirtung, is now based in Iqaluit where she works as host of the APTN Anaana’s Tent, an Inuktitut- and English-language children’s show. She also performs as a musician and will soon release her first Inuktitut-language electro-pop album. Mike-Murphy will receive her award at a May 29 gala in Toronto.
