Nunavut Employees Union members working for Qulliq Energy Corporation have ratified a new collective agreement to carry them through the end of 2024.

Members voted to ratify the agreement Sept. 29, the NEU announced in a message posted on its website Monday. Details of the collective agreement will be announced at a later date, it said.

Qulliq Energy Corp. is the sole power distributor for Nunavut. It is government-owned but operates at arm’s length from the GN, and reports to the GN’s minister responsible for the Qulliq Energy Corp.

The energy corporation and the union reached a tentative deal June 24 after three sessions of collective bargaining.

The agreement will commence upon the date of signing and expire Dec. 31, 2024.

Details about the collective agreement can be viewed here.

The NEU gets teachers 7% over 4 years (average 1.75%) announced January 2022.
    .
The NEU gets QEC 9% over 4 years (average 2.25%) announced October 2022.

    In between those two?

The NEU gets the GN 9% over 6 years (1.5%) announced July 2022.

At the teachers rate, the GN would’ve got 10.5% instead of 9%. At the QEC rate, the GN would’ve got 13.5% instead of 9%. Maybe that looks small, but that’s huge.
