A contract to build the long-planned addiction recovery centre in Iqaluit has been awarded by the Nunavut government.
The GN awarded the $67.5-million contract to Arctic Fresh Projects Inc. on June 22. The federal government and the GN committed to building the recovery centre in 2019.
Planning documents for the three-storey centre show 24 single and two-bedroom suites, onsite laundry, dining room, lounge, an arts and crafts area and spaces for group and single-person counselling.
The facility will be situated on a 7,700-square-metre parcel of land north of Toonik Pond on the Road to Nowhere.
The GN hasn’t announced yet when construction will start or the centre is expected to be completed by.
