Nunavut RCMP arrest man on porn and child luring charges
28-year-old accused not identified by police
The police have charged a 28-year-old Rankin Inlet man with luring a child and making explicit materials available to a child.
The investigation started on Jan. 22, when Rankin Inlet RCMP, with the assistance of V division’s specialized investigative team, undertook an investigation into allegations of possible child pornography and inappropriate intimate images being shared online, the Nunavut RCMP said today in a release.
As a part of the investigation, Rankin Inlet RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Rankin Inlet on April 3.
The police arrested and charged a 28-year-old Rankin Inlet man with making explicit material available to a child, under Section 171.1 (1) of the Criminal Code of Canada, and luring a child, under Section 172.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada, the RCMP release said.
The man, who was not identified by police, appeared before a justice of the peace and was released on conditions.
His next scheduled court date is Aug. 10 in Rankin Inlet.
The RCMP release advised parents and guardians to protect their children from online sexual exploitation.
