The Nunavut RCMP are investigating a suspected homicide in Pangnirtung, following the discovery of a dead man inside a residence very early this morning.

“The circumstances surrounding the death are suspicious in nature and police are treating this as a homicide investigation,” the Nunavut RCMP said today in a new release.

They said that at 1:09 a.m. this morning, they received a report of an “incident” inside a residence in Pangnirtung.

There, they found the man. But he had “succumbed to injuries” and was already dead, the news release said.

The RCMP did not identify the man, provide his age, or describe his injuries.

Major crimes investigators and members of the forensic identification unit from the RCMP’s V division have now arrived in Pangnirtung to continue the investigation, the police said.

You can also text a tip to Crime Stoppers by entering the letters NWTNUTIPS, plus your message, and texting it to 274637 (CRIMES), the police said.
