A police vehicle and a sled collided; youth on the sled is in “stable condition”

If you saw a collision between an RCMP vehicle and a sled on Friday evening in Pond Inlet, the police would like to hear from you.

V Division RCMP members from Iqaluit are on route to Pond Inlet today to investigate the collision that took place at 8:22 p.m. on March 27, an RCMP release said.

“Pond Inlet RCMP were on a routine patrol when a youth sliding down a hill crossed the road and collided with a police vehicle,” the release said.

The youth was immediately taken to the Pond Inlet Health Centre and later flown out of the community for further medical treatment, the release said.

“The youth is in stable condition and in the care of a parent,” it said.

The RCMP said the investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the incident can contact the police at 867-979-1111 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
