Suspect is in custody in Iqaluit, facing five charges

A 16-year-old Rankin Inlet boy was arrested on Sunday, March 3, when RCMP say they found him breaking into the community centre’s ice rink at around 3 a.m.

Responding to a 2:45 a.m. call about suspicious activity outside the Rankin Inlet Sport and Community Centre, Rankin Inlet RCMP allege that they found the teen trying to enter the hockey rink section of the building, according to a news release issued on Wednesday.

The teen was charged with five criminal offences related to break and enter and failingl to comply with court orders.

He remains in custody in Iqaluit, according to Iqaluit’s V Division media liaison.

The teen’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 25 in Iqaluit.
