Nunavut youth earn major league shout-out in Toronto

Kelsey Amaaq, left, of Igloolik, takes a selfie with a group of Nunavut youth in a suite at Rogers Centre in Toronto as the Toronto Blue Jays play the Oakland Athletics on June 24. The group from the Recreation and Parks Association of Nunavut was honoured with a shout-out on the video board in front of more than 41,000 fans. For the first time, the association brought a group of youth from Nunavut to Toronto for a series of training workshops organized by the Jays Care Foundation. The foundation is a partner of the Recreation and Parks Association of Nunavut, and has provided funding to support programs and build ballparks in communities across the territory.
