Nunavut ADM faces assault charge

QALUIT — Nunavut’s assistant deputy minister of finance, Victor Tootoo, appeared in court Monday to plead not guilty to assaulting Sandra Kilabuk.

The charge relates to an incident alleged to have occurred on June 12.

The matter was set for trial Nov. 9 at the request of Tootoo’s lawyer, Sue Cooper, since the Nunavut legislature will be sitting in October.
