Nunavut students win big at Skills Canada

Nunavut students won nine medals last week at the Territorial Skills Competition in Yellowknife.

On Apr. 21, 110 high school and post-secondary students competed in 18 trade and technology categories.

The Gold medal winners were Lauren Solski for a prepared speech and Sheila Aoudla for hairstyling; the Silver medal winners were Lana Shave for Worksite Safety, Ashley Tufts for Restaurant Service and Jennifer Twerdin for hairstyling; and the Bronze medals winners were Eliane Kanayuk-Gabriel for Cooking and Thor Simonsen and Sarah Critelli-Kerr for television and video production.

Five award-winners will join the Team NWT/Nunavut and compete at the Canadian Skills Competition in Edmonton in June.
