Nunavut wins literacy challenge


Nunavut out-read the Northwest Territories in this year’s “Read for 15” challenge.

Nearly 31.7 per cent on Nunavut residents read for 15 minutes compared to 22.5 per cent of NWT residents during the challenge on Tues., Oct. 4.

In Nunavut, 8,483 people out of 26,745 took the “Read for 15” challenge, an increase of 16 per cent over last year, according to Kim Crockatt, executive director of the Nunavut Literacy Council in Cambridge Bay.
