SLIDESHOW: Fashion show and gala raises money for Ottawa post-secondary school for Inuit

By Nunatsiaq News

Students from Nunavut Sivuniksavut hit the catwalk to model some traditional and non-traditional fashions at the school’s first-ever fundraising fashion show and gala at the National Arts Centre on Monday in Ottawa.

The school, located on Rideau Street about two kilometres east of Parliament Hill, is a two-year academic program for Inuit post-secondary students from Nunavut that focuses on Inuit studies.

The event aimed to raise $100,000 to pay for a cultural trip for students and to support the program’s operations, the school’s executive director Lynn Kilabuk said.
