Okalik: No time change on my watch

Paul Okalik, the premier of Nunavut, will play no part in any scheme to return Nunavut to a single time zone system.

“If I recall during our recent debates, just over a year ago, I promised not to deal with the time, so I will honour my promise and will not have the time of day for such a proposal,” Okalik said in the assembly, in response to a playful question from Hunter Tootoo, the MLA for Iqaluit Centre.

The week before, Paul Kaludjak, the president of NTI, raised the issue at his organization’s annual general meeting in Cambridge Bay.
