Ottawa police say the death of a 21-year-old man whose body was found on Meadow Park Place earlier this week is a homicide.
The Ottawa Police Service identified the victim as Joshua Qiyuk in a news release Thursday and said he died as the result of a stabbing.
He is believed to be from Nunavut, police said in response to a followup email from Nunatsiaq News.
Qiyuk was found deceased in the 400 block of Meadow Park Place around 8:13 a.m. on Wednesday.
A previous release issued Wednesday stated the death was being treated as suspicious while investigators awaited autopsy results and confirmed next-of-kin notification.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the homicide unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493.
Investigators said they would also like to speak with people who may have dash-cam footage from the Aviation Parkway between 7 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 7 a.m. on Oct. 22, or anyone who saw pedestrians on the Aviation Pathway between Hemlock Road and Montreal Road during that time.
