The Ottawa Police Service is asking for the public’s help to find a missing 36-year-old woman.
Susan Tagak, who was born in Iqaluit, was last seen Feb. 5 in downtown Ottawa. Police and her family are concerned for her well-being, Ottawa police said in a press release on Friday.
The family first contacted the Ottawa Police about two weeks ago, Susan’s father, John Tagak, said in a phone call on Monday.
“I had heard from some people that the police did contact them, so they were following whatever leads they had,” Tagak said.
The last time anyone heard from her was a phone call to her friend, he said.
Her family is trying to reach out to other Inuit in the community for help. A few times, Tagak himself went downtown to try to find his missing daughter.
The family, originally from Nunavut, now resides in the Ottawa area.
Police described Susan as an Indigenous woman five feet two inches tall with dark, curly hair that has been dyed blue. She has a heavy build and wears glasses, the police statement said.
She has been seen wearing a beige winter vest, green army-style jacket, green fleece pants and black shoes, the police release said.
“I just want her to, you know, just get in contact,” Tagak said.
“Let me know you’re safe. That’s all I want to know.”
Anyone with information about Susah Tagak’s whereabouts is asked to call the Ottawa Police at 613-236-1222 or to submit an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or at crimestoppers.ca.
I have seen this young woman recently. It may have been in Cornwall.
Please call the Ottawa Police or crime stoppers. Any leads will require a follow-up.
You spelled her name 2 different ways… Which is it?
