Ottawa Police Service uses Christmas to build relationships with Inuit
The Ottawa Police Service and the Inuit of Ottawa are putting their rocky past behind them, using Christmas to promote reconciliation and understanding. Here, Peter Sloly, the new chief of the Ottawa Police Service, shares some Christmas cheer with Sgt. Chris Hrnchiar at the annual Tungasuvvingat Inuit community Christmas gathering held Dec. 8 inside the Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne Park. About a dozen OPS members volunteered at the event, which drew more than 700 people. (Photo by Jim Bell)
