Two men face drug-related charges after Iqaluit RCMP carried out a search warrant as part of a cocaine trafficking investigation at an Apex residence last week.

The search, carried out Jan. 19, yielded 33 grams of cocaine, 0.5 grams of crack cocaine and an assortment of unknown pills, said RCMP Staff Sgt. Maj. Pauline Melanson in an email to Nunatsiaq News.

A 41-year-old man is charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime, according to an RCMP news release issued Jan. 24.

A 37-year-old man is charged with possession of a substance under schedule 1 of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

A third male was arrested but later released without being charged, police said.

The two suspects are scheduled to appear in the Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit on Feb. 5.

i think i saw the answer in the news saying that ottawa and all major city in the south change for the worse since a few years, those of us who have left and not been there a while would not reconise there beloved town and old safe neighbourhood. you see? Qabloonany (THE SOUTH) is drawning under a mass amounts of heavy drugs with crazy-zombie drug user walking and diying on the streets from: Drug over dose, yes, we lost a lot of Kingait and Nunavut inuk Life in ottawa allready from ilegal drug over dose there. The Drug Problem is so much worse and way Biger then it use to be in the south i heard on the news and also from a cop from alberta too, so thats why Drug: COKE,CRACK and Pill’s are traveling here as well too, since its everywhere in south now. well, it must be so easy to find and buy and smugle here,i even saw on facebook iqaluit public annoncement post of people willing to pay people ticket to go place,Very Fishy. i really wish i could say, not in here mister, but i am powerless and can’t do nothing about it other then try to make people and other understand the Great Danger of a town and society on hard drug and the Higher addition that iqaluit is allready Facing too and must try and Ask all of you For Help to SAY NO. lets all REFUSE TO SELL iT and REFUSE TO TAKE iT, please. you,me all of us can do this, say no to coke, crack and all heavy drugs, at least consider taking an action against Heavy drug propagation in nunavut, if only for the sake of your child’s and lil Kid’s future at least. thanks. lets make iqaluit Great again.

Why aren’t they named? Public needs to know so people don’t deal with them or warn love ones and for kids to stay away.

Hope they continue catching them all. No more drugs, with the recent talks about the alcohol issues, drugs should be included too. More harsher penalties since they sell to an already vulnerable group and place. They are NOT welcome in Nunavut!

If you really are interested in knowing who, do your own research.

The article told you which date they are going to court.

Go to the the Nunavut Court website, and look up that exact date.
Look for the criminal code section for drug charges.
(which is section 4(1) of the CDSA)

      And you’ll find out who.

Wish the journalists of this paper would do this and include it as part of the news coverage – it seems they often leave it out. They used to provide all the information but guess not in todays news.

The RCMP News release did not name names, it is not the writers fault.

    https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/news

Go a head and find the news release yourself. Sometimes they release names so this has to be asked of the RCMP instead.

You can attend court of February 5 if you really want to know who got charged and for what.
