Pang man sentenced

Billy Kilabuk of Pangnirtung has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for sexually assaulting three girls under the age of 14.

Kilabuk, 31, appeared in court in Iqaluit on Aug. 2 and pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault.

Kilabuk committed the crimes while he was under house arrest for a property-related offence.

Justice Robert Kilpatrick sentenced Kilabuk to 18 months in jail for the assaults, and ordered him to serve out the remaining four-and-a-half months of his other offence.

In all, Kilabuk will spend the next 22-and-a-half months incarcerated.
