Peter Tapatai receives Order of Nunavut

Peter Tapatai, centre, is seen after receiving the Order of Nunavut on Monday evening. The award recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions to the territory. Premier Joe Savikataaq hailed the Baker Lake businessman on social media as “an entrepreneur and strong advocate for his community and culture.” And, Savikataaq said, “he’s also a real-life superhero” — while working for the Inuit Broadcasting Corp. in the late 1980s, Tapatai created and played the part of the iconic Inuk superhero, Super Shamou.
