Photo: GN plans June 17 Iqaluit clean-up

It’s that time of year again: when the snow melts and reveals the litter which built up during the winter. But it won’t be there long. On June 17, the Government of Nunavut will host the 2011 Iqaluit community clean-up, where residents are encouraged to help pick up trash in the city’s streets, ditches, creeks and parks. The clean-up starts at 9 a.m. at the Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre. As part of the GN’s ongoing anti-littering campaign, more than 20 Nunavut communities will participate in community clean-ups this year. (PHOTO BY SARAH ROGERS)
