Photo: Mapping an uncharted passage

Sailing into this fiord north of Clyde River on Aug. 5 gives researchers on board the Amundsen a unique opportunity to map the narrow passage, which hasn’t been charted previously. They’re using sonar equipment, which emits sound waves that are similar to, but less powerful than seismic testing. On Aug. 6, they’ll conduct the same work in Lancaster Sound. (PHOTO BY JANE GEORGE)
