Premier Eva Aariak with a $25,000 cheque that the Government of Nunavut will give the Canadian Red Cross to help pay for urgent relief efforts in Haiti, which was devastated Jan. 12 by a catastrophic earthquake. “We understand and feel deeply about all Haitians are feeling right now,” Aariak said. She said the Department of Community Government and Services will help co-ordinate fundraising activities in the communities. She also said anyone in Canada with friends or relatives in Haiti may call the Department of Foreign Affairs at 1-800-387-3124 for information.
